Cuttack,15/5 ( Odisha Samachar)-On 15.5.2015, the Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani pronounced the judgement and sentenced the accused Sri Kambhu Prasad Danta, Secretary, Bariha G.P., Dist: Boudh to undergo Rigorous imprisonment for 1 year and to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000/- u/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (c)(d) P.C. Act in default to undergo Rigorous imprisonment for 3 months further to under go Rigorous imprisonment for 1 year and to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000/- u/s 409 IPC in default to under go Rigorous imprisonment for 3 months, Both the sentences to run concurrently.
This relates to Berhampur Vigilance P.S case No. 34 dt. 1.11.2008 registered against Sri Kambhu Prasad Danta, Secretary, Bahira G.P., Dist: Boudh u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) P.C. Act/ 409 IPC on the written report of Sri Dolagovinda Parida, Ex-Inspector of Police, Vigilance, Boudh Unit.
Investigation of the case revealed that Sri Kambhu Prasad Danta was the Secretary of Bahira G.P. under Boudh Block from 1.12.1978 to 28.2.2009. During the period from 9.6.2002 to 10.7.2004, Secretary Sri Danta received Q.2968.78 Kg. 500 gm. Of rice under SGRY from Boudh Block to utilize in various developmental works of the GP. After receiving the rice he had shown issued Q.1171.00 rice for the purose of different developmental works for the GP. Further he has given advance of Q.1080.00 rice to the executants as per the rder of B.D.O., Boudh and also issued Q.6.41 kg. 500 gm of rice to the local beneficiaries. All total he had utilized Q. 2257.41 Kg. 500 Gms. of the received Q.2968.78 Kg. 500 gms. And the rest Q.711.37 of rice has not been utilized by him.
During further investigation. I was revealed that out of the rice of Q.711.37, Sri Danta, Secretary have returned Q.130.00 rice to Boudh Block on dt.19.5.2004. With regard to storage of Q.581.37 rice, the Secretary could not give any account and admitted in his compliance report dt.28.12.2006 and agreed to return the rice which he failed for which this case was registered on 1.9.2008 in Berhampur Vigilance Division. Sri Ananta Kumar Majhi, DSP, Vigilance was investigating the case and submitted Charge Sheet against him which was under trial.
