FOREST RANGER CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE:

ELogo BlueCuttack, 19/8 ( Odisha Samachar / Dipti Ranjan Kanungo ) –  Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.53 dt.18.12.1996 u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) P.C. Act, 1988/ 409 IPC was registered and charge sheeted against Sri Raj Kishore Panda, Ex-In-charge Forest Ranger of Bhatlaida Kendu Leaf Range, P.S-Laikera, Dist.Jharsuguda for misappropriation of Govt. money to a tune of Rs.2,21,349/- which was entrusted to him under Kendu Leaf operation work. The case was under trial in the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.

On completion of trial the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur in his judgment dtd.19.08.2014 held Sri Raj Kishore Panda, Forest Ranger found guilty of the charges, convicted and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 4 years  and to pay fine of Rs.10,000/-. In default   of payment of fine to undergo rigorous imprisonment for  2 months more for the offence u/s 409 IPC.  Further, sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and to pay fine of Rs.30,000/-. In default of payment of fine to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 months more for the offence u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) P.C.Act.  The sentences are to run concurrently.

Sri A.K. Mishra, Spl. P.P, Vigilance, Sambalpur conducted the case on behalf of Vigilance and Sri B.D.Majhi, Ex-D.S.P, Vigilance Sambalpur was the I.O. of the case.
