Bhubaneswar, 01/12/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability Minister Prafulla Samal inaugurated a film festival on disability awareness at IDCOL Auditorium here on Friday on the occasion of World Disabled Day.
As many as 500 disabled persons from different institutions and general public attended the film festival on the inaugural day.
During the two days film festival, visitors will be able to enjoy Films like SEE MY ABILITY, I AM LIKE YOU, THAKAAN SE AGEE, PUSPAK, DIGNITY, LIFE WITH DIGNITY, I AM ABLED, and many more. The entry will
be free for all.
Marking the occasion, the Minister also inaugurated Utsav-2017 (a sports and cultural meet for the specially abled) at Kishore Club Ground, Unit 1, where more than 600 disabled persons from different institutions and public actively participated in different sports and cultural activities.
It is important to integrate disabled persons in the main stream of society. Disabled persons are often discriminated against and that is never an ideal condition. Society must take adequate steps to involve persons with disabilities in the main stream of each aspect of the social, political, economic and cultural status of their communities. This was the message for the society through the film festival and Utsav 2017.
The event was managed by WE4YOU, an NGO which dedicatedly works for the betterment of the society.
