Bhubaneswar,12/12( Odisha Samachar Bureau) -The meeting of the Divisional Rail Users’ Consultative Committee was organized by Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway on 11.12.2013. Sri H.L.Luwang, Secretary of the Committee-Cum-Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Khurda Road welcomed all the members present in the meeting. Sri Sanjay Kumar Mohanty, Divisional Railway Manager & Chairman. DRUCC, Khurda Road addressed the members representing various sections of the society and of special interests as well as the representatives of members of parliament and apprised them regarding the various developmental measures & passenger amenity works initiated by the Division for the benefit of Rail Users. Divisional Railway Manager apprised the members that in spite of the recent difficulties faced by the Division due to cyclone ‘ Phailin’ and Flood, the Division has achieved 23% increase in freight loading. Passenger earnings has registered a growth of 17%. Punctuality of trains has also been increased over last year. AC waiting halls and AC dormitories have been opened both for gents and ladies at Bhubaneswar station. 10 Foot Over Bridges have been constructed this year. Train indication Boards, Coach Indication Boards, Waiting Rooms, Dormitories at various stations have also been added. The members of the committee put forth various suggestions, recommendations and demands before the meeting like additional stoppage of trains at more number of stations, increasing frequency of trains, introduction of new trains, provision of additional Platform shelter at more stations, opening of additional counters in booking offices, better approach road, Drinking water, provision of better amenities to physically challenged persons, punctuality of trains and cleanliness of stations, provision of better quality food by Railways/IRCTC, more refreshment stalls, etc. The Committee appreciated the role of the Division in heralding new projects related to passenger amenities and congratulated the Railways for taking up renovation/beautification works under passenger amenities at important stations of Khurda Road Division and suggested for improvement. Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road Sri Manas Kumar Poddar also participated in discussion.
