Cuttack, 28/06/2016 ( Odisha Samachar )- Today i.e. on 28.06.2016 Sri Birupakshya Mishra, Dealing Clerk, Office of Tahasildar, Harabhanga, Charichhaka, Boudh has been caught by Vigilance Officers of Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.1,000/- from the complainant Sri Umesh Patra, Vill- Nuapada, PS- Boudh, Dist-Boudh. In this connection Berhampur Vigilance P.S case No. 36 dt.27.06.2016 u/s 7 P.C.Act has been registered.
The complainant Sri Umesh Patra alleged that he had applied to Tahasildar, Harabhanga for conversion of his agricultural land to Gharabari Kisam. His application was sent to the Revenue Inspector, Biranarasinghpur for verification. As per the instruction of R.I, he deposited required fees in the R.I office. Then R.I, Biranarasinghpur sent the verification report to the Tahasildar, Harabhanga. Complt. Sri Patra met the dealing Clerk Sri Birupakshya Mishra and requested him to process his file. But Sri Mishra demanded Rs.3,000/- for the above purpose and took Rs.3,000/- from the Complt. But inspite of several request Sri Mishra kept the file pending with him and again demanded Rs.1,000/- to process the file. Thereafter Sri Patra reported to Vigilance.
As per direction of S.P, Vigilance, Berhampur, a trap was laid on 28.06.2016. Accused Sri Birupakshya Mishra, Dealing Clerk was caught red handed inside the office of Tahasildar, Harabhanga at Charichhaka by Vigilance Officers of Berhampur Division while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.1,000/- from the complt. Sri Patra. The bribe money of Rs.1,000/- have been recovered from the possession of Sri Mishra, Dealing Clerk and has been seized in presence of witnesses. Hand wash of Sri Mishra gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe.
The investigation of the case is in progress.
