Bhubaneswar, 05/04 ( Odisha Samachar): A very crucial All-India Railway operations and strategy meeting started at Puri on Sunday. The two-day long conference of Chief Operations Managers of all Zonal Railways was inaugurated by Member, Traffic, Railway Board, Shri Ajay Shukla.
Many Senior Railway Board officials are attending this conference. The overall strategy of loading and movement for the whole of Indian Railways and targets for key performance indicators were finalized. The results and statistics of Financial year 2014-15 were analysed and EAST COAST RAILWAY has emerged as the highest loading Zonal Railway.
The outcome of this crucial policy decision-making conference is being awaited and many policy-watchers including those from transport logistics, coal, power, steel plants, food grains, and cement sector are closely monitoring the outcome of this meeting. Investment patterns, policy planning, Traffic facilities including crucial new lines, doubling, capacity enhancement works, strategy for inducting new wagons, new engines, and electrification of crucial routes were part of the discussion.
Member, Traffic, Railway Board, Shri Ajay Shukla stressed upon better appreciation of ground realities for successful execution of planned projects so that targeted works are completed in time. Punctuality and safety of trains have to be given prime importance. The situation this year is very different from previous years as new policy pronouncements and new directions have been given in this year’s Railway Budget. This Railway Budget has seen a paradigm shift for Railways and things need to be streamlined accordingly.
The Present conference is very crucial for East Coast Railway as East Coast Railway has become the most important and strategic Zone for entire Indian Railways. A clear signal this conference has given is that East Coast Railway is the Railway Zone to watch out for. This meeting will help in coordination between Railway Zones and sort out problems in Railway working.
