Bhubaneswar , 27/2 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty) : Exquisite Crafts from Eight States of North Eastern Region comprising of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim attracts a large number of customers at the Craft Bazar at Ekamra Haat, Unit-3 in the city. The Craft Bazar is organised by North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd., with financial assistance extended by Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textile, Government of India.
A wide range of Handicrafts including Cane and Bamboo furniture, Basketry, small handicrafts of Assam, Tripura, Dry flower from Nagaland, Kuna Mat and Cushion from Manipur, Sital Patty and bags from Assam, Wood Carving from Meghalaya, Jewellery, Bangle from Rajasthan and many more items are available in the exhibition.
Assam Silk Saree, Mekhala Chador, Manipuri Silk, Cotton Saree, Dress Material, Dupatta are in good demand amongst the customers. “Discount of 20 percent on Handloom and 10 percent on Handicrafts can be availed by the customers”, said Sales in-charge MD Rushtam Ansari.
The objectives of the exhibition are to promote sales of Handicrafts and Handlooms, increase awareness in favour of Handicrafts and Handlooms, expose crafts persons and weavers to the outside market and to eradicate the middleman in Handicraft and Handloom sector. The exhibition will remain open till March 12, 2014.
