Bhubaneswar, 01/05/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday laid the foundation stone of temporary shelters for construction labourers through videoconferencing at Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) here.
Speaking on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, the CM said, “A number of projects have been inaugurated today for the welfare of construction lanourers and to bring them to mainstream. The State Government will construct temporary shelters for the construction labourers at 21 places including Bhubaneswar (Kharvel Nagar, Chandrasekharpur and Sampur), Cuttack, Berhampur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jharsuguda, Paradip and Sambalpur.”
On the occasion, the CM launched five help desks for migrant construction labourers at Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and New Delhi through videoconferencing. Besides, five trade unions were honoured with ‘Biju Shramik Bandhu Samman’.
Among others, Urban Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo, Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick, MLAs Priyadarshi Mishra, Bijay Mohanty and Odisha Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board Chairman Subash Singh were present on the occasion.
