Bhubaneswar, 10/12/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) by cutting cake here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “The international flight from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok will give a boost to trade and tourism with South East Asian countries. Besides, our Buddhist sites will attract more international visitors.”
According to Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, the state government has plans to connect Dubai and other western countries soon.
The new flight took off from the airport at around 3:45 pm and is scheduled to reach Bangkok by 8:15 pm.
The flight will operate twice a week- Thursdays and Sundays.
Among others, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, MP Prasanna Patsani, Tourism Secretary Mona Sharma, BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota were present on the occasion.
