Bhubaneswar,08/12/2016 ( Odisha Samachar )- ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar is organizinga National Training Programme on “Fish Feed Production and Feeding management in Aquaculture” during 7-9 December, 2016. In the inaugural session,Dr.K.N.Mohanta, Principal Scientist &Head(I/C), Fish Physiology and Nutrition Division, ICAR-CIFAand Course Director, welcomed the delegates and highlighted the targeted fish production and feed requirement in the country. Das, Principal Scientist and Course Director, outlined the course curriculum of the three days programme. Prof, Dr, K Samantray, Former Director, College of Fisheries, OUAT and Chief Guest has emphasized on the role of both live and supplementary feed to enhance the aquaculture production. Addressing the gathering, Dr.J.K.Sundaray, DirectorIn-charge, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar stressedup on the sustainability of fish feed production in context of present scenario of aquaculture with safeguarding the interest of the farmers.
Dr.A. K. Sahu, Former Head, Aquaculture Production and Environment Division, ICAR-CIFA and Scientist Emeritus, DBT, Indiaappealed for the convergence of fish researchers and feed industries for benefits of the end users and endurance of aquaculture sector. Dr. Sukumar Das, CEO, KrushiJeevika Producer Company Ltd, Bhubaneswar advised not to compromise on feed quality for the sake of profit. Prof (Dr.) R.K Swain, Head, Animal Nutrition, OUAT, Bhubaneswarexpressed that the nutrient requirement of fish is to be met while formulating the quality fish feed. In this occasion, a publication was released by the guest in the form of a training manual. Over 30 participants comprising entrepreneurs, progressive aquaculturist and officials from 8 States across the country have participated the programme. The session was moderated by Dr. N.K. Barik, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIFA and the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. S.C. Rath, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA.
