Bhubaneswar: To sensitize the unorganized workers and build a platform among the different categories of people dependent on informal economy, city based voluntary organisation Center for Child and Women Development (CCWD) with support from European Commission & Action aid organised a one day meet with different categories like- domestic workers, auto drivers, waste workers, construction worker and hawkers of the city at Red Cross Bhawan today. Addressing the workers, Sadasiv Swain, secretary of CCWD said that unity among workers belonging to different categories is most essential to strengthen social security measures.
The meeting discussed about enhancement of workers’ minimum wages, their social security, rights & entitlements. As many as 50 members of different categories activel participated in the meeting.
The welcome address was given by Satya Ranjan Sahu, vice president of the collectives & the objective of the networking was shared by Mrunmayee Mishra of CCWD.
Lastly Pradip Badajena proposed a warm vote of thanks to all. The programme was coordinated by Ashok Gochhi, Manas Pradhan, Mandaradhar Beja, Phulamani Patra, Gobind Nayak and Jyotshna Rani Mishra.
