Bhubaneswar, 29/05/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : The Utkal Chemists & Druggists Association would show solidarity with All India Organisation of Chemists & Druggists (AIOCD) and join the Nationwide strike against online sale of medicines on May 30, Utkal Chemists & Druggists Association President P. Satyanarayana said in a press conference here.
The AIOCD, which has over 8 lakh chemists and druggists pan India as it members, strongly opposes the move by Union Health Ministry to regularize online sale of medicines. The association had already dismissed the proposal to regulate the sale of medicines with the remarks that such move is completely impracticable. Considering insufficient infrastructure of IT across the country, it will be difficult and embarrassing for most of the stockiest, druggists and chemists to upload the details of the sale on the e-portal within a stipulated period. The association is of the opinion that, this will cause scarcity of medicines in the entire country, he said.
