Cuttack,20/11 ( Odisha Samachar ) – To day i.e on 20.11.2015 Sri V.Rama Rao, ASI of Police, Tarsingh Police Station, Dist-Ganjam is arrested by Vigilance Officers of Berhampur Vigilance Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.7,000/- from the complainant Sri Siba Nayak, Vill- Tuladi, P.S-Tarsingh, Dist-Ganjam to issue compromise petition executed in between the complt. and his brother and Station Diary copy of Tarsingh P.S. In this connection Berhampur Vigilance P.S case No.56 dt. 19.11.2015 u/s. 7 P.C. Act 1988 has been registered.
The complainant Sri Siba Nayak alleged that prior to about one year back, the complt. alongwith his cousin brother Prasant Kumar Nayak had been to Tamilinadu for labour work. While they were staying at Tamilinadu, there was some dispute between them relating to distribution of labour payment. After returning from Tamilinadu, Prasant reported the matter at Tarsingh Police Station. Sri V.Rama Rao, ASI, Tarsingh Police Station enquired into the allegation and amicably settled the dispute. Both the groups executed an agreement in the police station.
The Complt requested ASI Sri V.Rama Rao to issue copies of compromise petition executed in between the complt. and his brother Sri Prasant Kumar Nayak and Station Diary copy of Tarsingh P.S of the relevant date. The accused ASI V.Rama Rao demanded illegal gratification of Rs.7,000/- from the complt. for this purpose. Getting no other alternative he reported to Vigilance.
A trap was laid on 20.11.15, the accused Sri V.Rama Rao, ASI was caught red handed by the Vigilance Officer while demanding and accepting of bribe of Rs.7,000/- from the complt . The bribe money of Rs.7,000/- was recovered from the possession of Sri Rao, ASI. The hand & pant pocket wash of the accused gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of the bribe.
