Registration of Criminal cases :
During the year 2017, State Vigilance has registered 504 criminal cases against 1061 persons including 613 Public servants and 448 Private persons.
This includes 161 Trap cases, 110 DA (Disproportionate Assets) cases, 223 Misappropriation cases and 10 cases under Essential Commodities Act against 63 Class-I officers, 63 Class-II officers, 476 Class-III employees, 11 Class-IV employees and 448 Private persons.
Trap cases :
During the year 2017, 161 trap cases have been registered against 177 persons including 172 Public servants and 5 Private persons. The trap cases have been registered against 13 Class-I officers, 14 Class-II officers, 138 Class-III employees, 7 Class-IV employees and 5 Private persons for demand and acceptance of bribe amounting to Rs.19.09 lakhs.
Disproportionate Assets (DA) cases :
During the year 2017, 110 D.A cases have been registered against 165 persons including 112 Public servants and 53 Private persons. DA cases have been registered against 30 Class-I officers, 24 Class-II officers, 111 Class-III employees and others for acquisition of disproportionate assets beyond their known sources of income. The total disproportionate assets in all the 110 DA cases has been calculated as Rs.67.30 Crores (As per FIR).
Misappropriation cases :
State Vigilance has registered 223 misappropriation cases relating to misappropriation of public money against 703 persons including 327 public servants and 376 private persons involving misappropriation of public funds amounting to Rs.21.64 Crores. Misappropriation cases have been registered against 22 Class-I officers, 25 Class-II officers, 278 Class-III employees, 2 Class-IV employees and 376 Private persons.
During the year 2017, 218 accused persons have been arrested and forwarded in custody, which includes 20 Class-I officers, 24 Class-II officers, 150 Class-III employees, 10 Class-IV employees and 14 Private persons.
During the year 2017, 287 Vigilance cases have been disposed of. Out of these, 29 cases were abated due to death of the accused persons and 4 cases were discharged/quashed. Out of the rest 254 cases, 120 cases ended in conviction against 10 Class-I officers, 15 Class-II officers, 98 Class III employees and 21 Private persons. Thus, altogether 144 accused persons were convicted during the year. The percentage of conviction in respect of cases disposed of after trial by the courts during the year comes to 47%.
During the year 2017, 35 Public servants including 2 Class-I officers, 9 Class-II officers and 24 Class III employees were dismissed from service following their conviction in Vigilance cases.
During the year 2017, State Vigilance has recommended for initiation of Departmental action against 466 Public servants including 87 Class-I officers, 65 Class-II officers, 303 Class III employees and 11 Class-IV employees.
During the year 2017, State Vigilance has initiated 623 enquiries against 923 Public servants and others, which includes 57 Class-I officers, 67 Class-II officers, 548 Class-III employees, 10 Class-IV employees and 241 Private persons for their alleged involvement in various acts of corruption.
The State Vigilance has extended its public interface and feedback system through its toll-free and dedicated telephone numbers, email, interactive website and social media platforms like facebook and Twitter. The Vigilance Organization is giving utmost importance to reduce the response time in taking due follow up action on the complaints/grievances received from the public.
