New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, 28/09/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who met Union Road Transport Minister and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari at New Delhi on Wednesday, sought for construction of a flyover at Khandagiri Square in Bhubaneswar.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister said, “Construction of flyover at Khandagiri on National Highway-16 is an acute necessity as this congested junction has a history of several terrible accidents.”
The CM also demanded for construction of flyover at Gohira Chhack leading to Info Valley-II near Khurda on NH-16.
He further added that Odisha Government has submitted a proposal to declare 30 State Roads, which fulfill the eligibility criteria, covering a length of 2, 483 km, as National Highways in December, 2016. These 30 eligible State Roads, he said, may be approved and declared as National Highways as early as possible.
The Union Minister assured the CM that priority will be accorded to the pending National Highway projects in Odisha and appropriate action, as required, relating to finalization of tenders and completion of works within a defined time frame will be taken.
