New Delhi/Bhubaneswar, 01/02/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : After the budget 2017 was presented in Parliament today, the prices of gutkha, tobacco, cigarette, pan masala, cigar, cheroots, beedi and chewing tobacco are set to soar up. The excise duty of all tobacco-based products has been hiked to 4.2 per cent to 8.3 in this year’s budget.
It is being estimated that the smart phones would turn costlier as excise duty on the printed circuit board used in making cell phones has been increased by 2 per cent.
Other items that would turn costlier include LED lamp components, cashew nuts, Aluminium ores and Concentrates.
However, booking railway tickets online will turn cheaper. Among the prices of other products which were reduced in Budget 2017 include solar tempered glass used in solar panels, fuel cell based power generating systems, wind operated energy generator and vegetable tanning extracts used in making leather products.
