12-hr bandh over farmers’ issues hits life in Komna

Nuapada/Bhubaneswar, 01/12/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : Life came to a standstill in Komna block of Nuapada district owing to a 12-hour bandh called by Garib Sena to mount pressure on the state government to sort out various problems faced by the farming community in the district.

Markets, shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed due to the strike. Vehicular traffic was also affected at many places as the agitators staged blocked roads at major road junctions and National Highway-353.

The protestors demanded Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of 20 crop affected farmers who committed suicide in the last three years and supply of fertilizer and qualitative seeds to farmers.
