108 laptops distributed to visually impaired students

108 laptops distributed to visually impaired students

Bhubaneswar, 30/03/2017 ( Odisha Samachar / Abhisek Mohanty )- : In a bid to connect the visually impaired OS-Logo-Pink-English-300x179-3-300x179students with information technology, the Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Usha Devi distributed 108 laptops with JAWS software to them at a special function held at Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped (VRCH) on Thursday.Laptop 1

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has created this new department to have focused attention for rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities. The Government will take all initiatives for comprehensive development of persons with disabilities in the State.

During his address, SSEPD Principal Secretary Niten Chandra said, “The laptops will certainly help the students with blindness not only in higher education but also connecting them with information technology, which is one of the biggest knowledge source, and now an integrated part of personal and professional life.”
